The 10 Commandments of Restoration

1. After you have suffered an insurance loss you have the right to compensation for emergency repairs performed to stop further damage and secure your property.
2. With the proper insurance coverage you are entitled to receive full replacement cost to restore your property to its pre-loss condition.
3. You are entitled to select any restoration company you chose to work with and should insist they are fully licensed and insured restoration contractors.
4. You should ensure the firm you chose has a good reputation, with the experience and stability to complete and warranty their work.
5. You are entitled to building materials of like, kind, and quality.
6. You are not required to accept the lowest bidder… and shouldn’t
7. You are entitled to receive a detailed estimate of all your repair needed to restore your home.
8. You should reject any contract or work authorization that does not meet MCL standards.
9. You should not just hire a contractor, but hire a firm that specializes in disaster restoration.
10. If you and your insurance company can not agree on the cost to repair your property you can request arbitration without litigation.
